The University of Notre Dame has announced that this year's Laetare Address will be given by Judge John Noonan, who received the Laetare Medal in 1984. The announcement is not yet on the website, but I will provide a link as soon as it is.

Update: Here is the link.

It seems rather sad the Notre Dame can't come up with any American who has greatly contributed to the Catholic Church; does this mean that there is such a split among the faculty/officers that just what is a great contribution is open to fierce debate?

Too bad, Notre Dame. Maybe, you'll get it right SOME year.
