The Latest from CARA

For decades the Center for Applied Research in the Apostolate (CARA [3]) at Georgetown University has been an invaluable resource for data on the American Catholic community. Founded in 1964, CARA's mission--to increase the church's self understanding--neatly dovetails with that of America, and we have often cited [4] its findings in our pages.
2010 marks the start of a new chapter at CARA with the arrival of Thomas P. Gaunt, S.J., as executive director. The center also has a sharp new Web site [3], with a wealth of data for the curious-minded. (Browse their most frequently cited church statistics here [5].) To mark these occasions, and to formalize a longstanding informal partnership, we are pleased to launch this special page on the America Web site, with links to recent items of interest from CARA.
