James T. Keane, a former associate editor at America, is an editor at Orbis Books  in Maryknoll, N.Y. He is the author of Fritz B. Burns and the Development of Los Angeles , and a contributor to Young And Catholic in America  and Catholics in New York: Society, Culture, and Politics, 1808-1946.  He has received Catholic Press Association awards for his columns (2009) and book reviews (2011) in America. His writing has also appeared in Philadelphia Weekly, U.S. Catholic, Popoli, BustedHalo, and Hypothetical Review . He holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Columbia University (2007) and a Master of Divinity degree from the Jesuit School of Theology in Berkeley (2012), and has taught literature and theology at Fordham University and the University of San Francisco. A native of Los Angeles, he lives in Riverdale, N.Y.
