Welcome to "The Good Word," America’s new blog on Scripture and preaching. Inspired by America’s popular column "The Word," "The Good Word" is a group blog aimed at fostering discussion on the week’s Scriptural readings and their relevance today. Our roster of bloggers includes experts in both the Old and New Testament, as well as individuals who teach homiletics, or who are known for their preaching skills. Each week our contributors will weigh in on the week’s readings, new books on Scripture or whatever else catches their interest. We hope "The Good Word" will be a valuable resource to preachers, Sunday worshippers and anyone interested in Biblical study. Readers are encouraged to join the conversation by posting comments. Thank you for interest in "The Good Word"--please visit again soon.

This is a great idea - I hope it receives great support. I feel that I may humbly represent a surprisingly large group of souls. We work long hours - me, 12 hour midnights - combined with unending family obligations. But I pray and study as John Paul 2 did - as he worked in the mines and in the quarries. It is just this kind of group I look for as my spiritual reading resource, it is why I subscribe to America - and a discussion group as a bonus!! May God bless...

I like the new look. I look forward to the issue each week and use the Good Word with my study groups.
