Just when you thought the Texas prima-caucus system could not get any more complicated: Anecdotal evidence and some early exit polls indicate that large numbers of Republicans are voting in the Democratic primary in Texas today, presumably for Obama. This mixes things up quite a bit because anyone who votes in the Texas Democratic primary is permitted under Texas law to vote in the Democratic caucuses that follow later today, meaning that there could potentially be thousands of Republicans voting in the Democratic caucuses tonight. I consider myself an "independent" but have voted Republican for the last 25 years in Texas. Not this year - I voted in the Democratic primary and look forward to the caucus tonite.

Oh, I wouldn't assume they're voting for Obama at all. Conventional wisdom would be that they're voting for Clinton in order to facilitate a long, bloody pre-convention fight and a divided party which will only help the GOP. Not rocket science. Or even very hard political science.
