Whosoever Desires...

Yeah, I know there are already so many blogs you feel like you have to read--In All Things and The Good Word of course; as well as Dotcommonweal, Whispers in the Loggia, Clerical Whispers, First Things, the Deacon's Bench, The Anchoress and on and on--but here's a new one to add to your list.  It's called "Whosoeverdesires."  Jesuit fans will recognize this as the first words from one of the founding documents of the Society of Jesus, the "Formula of the Institute."  Viz: "Whosoever desires to serve as a soldier of God beneath the banner of the cross in our Society, which we desire to be designated by the name of Jesus, and to serve the Lord alone and the Church his Spouse, under the Roman pontiff, the vicar of Christ on earth, should, after a vow of perpetual chastity, poverty, and obedience, keep the following in mind."  Anyway, it's a zippy new blog run by seven talented and articulate young Jesuits: Nathan O'Halloran, SJ; Michael Magree, SJ; Jeff Johnson, SJ; Brian Reedy, SJ; John Brown, SJ; Aaron Pidel, SJ; and Vincent L. Strand, SJ.  (I note for the record that my friend Michael Magree is actually listed as "Michae!" which is a great nom de blogue.)  So far the blog has tackled topics like Pope Benedict XVI's new encyclical Caritas in Veritate, baseball, Teilhard, "Nurse Jackie," the common good, Darwin and Solzhenitsyn.  A very catholic and Catholic roundup of topics that bodes well for whosoever desires to follow this blog.  Start reading it here.
