As Tom Beaudoin mentioned in his post below, the Los Angeles Religious Education Congress begins this week, and will attract over 40,000 Catholics to the Anaheim Convention Center for Masses, workshops, lectures and--my guiltiest pleasure--spending my limited stipend on all the new Catholic books, holy cards, saints statues and greeting cards from Printery House.  Several of us from America magazine will be in attendance, and I'll be giving one of my talks in (gulp) espanol!.  But for those of you who can't make the hajj to Anaheim, Congress will be live streaming some of the events.  Here's the word from "Congress": "We know that not everyone can make it to this annual event of over 40,000 Catholics, so we are hoping to bring the event to you this year.   Simply, login to  www.recongress.org/live  anytime between 8:30 am – 10 pm PST on Friday, March 19th or at 3:30 pm on Sunday, March 21st.  You will be able to experience everything from prayer experiences to workshops!  Also, join us on Facebook  www.Facebook.com/recongress  or  www.Twitter.com/lacongress   (with hash tag #REC2010) to let us in on how the experience is for you while hearing from others onsite throughout the weekend."

The latest from america

Against the backdrop of deep differences with the Trump administration over migration and foreign aid as well as concerns for Ukraine and for Gaza, the Vatican secretary of state welcomed U.S. Vice President JD Vance to the Vatican.
Vance, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, attended the liturgy with his wife, Usha, a practicing Hindu, and his three children after meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni earlier in the day.
My Catholic identity and my wife’s Protestant identity continue to endure, and our faith has developed together in greater harmony, knowing that our love for each other was ultimately grounded in our love for God.
