In this overview of the damage inflicted by the earthquake Catholic Relief Services says it is preparing for "thousands and thousands" of dead and injured in the wake of the worst natural disaster to strike Haiti in two centuries.
Meanwhile, the U.S. bishops have instituted a special collection for the victim's of the disaster for this weekend. U.S. Catholics can also donate to the collection for the church in Latin America the weekend of January 23 and 24.
