I think CNN has done great work covering Haiti. And is not all publicity good for present and future relief? Beside reporters I've seen Hollywood actors, singers, sportman, doctors, pols, relgious leaders both lay and clerical all over TV but have not seen even one Catholic cleric or lay person on any national channel cable or broadcast. I know CRS and Jesuit relief plus many other Catholic groups are on the ground in great numbers to serve an 80% Catholic country; but never in front of a camera or mike. The archbishop was killed along with many seminarians, the cathedral is demolished and yet no media presence for Catholic leaders. Was a Catholic bishop dispatched to Haiti to lead? To show the Cross? And yes I think it is most important to show presence and the failure to show presence concerns me.I talking to a a priest in Wash. DC and asked what he saw. He said he saw the CRS spokesperson on TV but it was a local station. What's up?

Against the backdrop of deep differences with the Trump administration over migration and foreign aid as well as concerns for Ukraine and for Gaza, the Vatican secretary of state welcomed U.S. Vice President JD Vance to the Vatican.
Vance, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, attended the liturgy with his wife, Usha, a practicing Hindu, and his three children after meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni earlier in the day.
My Catholic identity and my wife’s Protestant identity continue to endure, and our faith has developed together in greater harmony, knowing that our love for each other was ultimately grounded in our love for God.
