Speaking on NPR's Weekend Edition with Scott Simon on the need for penance, and some of the causes of the sexual abuse crisis.  Weekend Edition is one of the sanest places to discuss these issues, I think.  The link to NPR is here.

Jim, I heard the interview as it played on the radio.   Good interview but still no mention of provincials, religious superiors, and superior generals - only bishops.

I am in a very rural place right now, with no internet, cell phone or tv - only radio. (Drove to the closest library to post this comment.)  I am working on my statement for the press release for the lawsuit I am filing against the Jesuits for allowing an abusive Jesuit to return to ministry after it was banned under a legal agreement in 2003, and then the provincials lying about it in 2009 instead of taking responsibility.

I hope SNAP and my attorney cover most of it, re the abusive Jesuit and the abuse and the violation of the legal agreement - because what I want to highlight is two Jesuit provincials lying and covering it up, and Fr. Nicolas not taking responsiblity for that.

I know many Jesuits who would humbly admit their mistakes and take responsibility, but these two Jesuit provincials and Fr. Nicolas are not among them.  This is what I feel most compelled to tell the world.

Next time, please include the religious orders, not only bishops.
