I was so moved by these short clips that I found tears rolling down my cheeks at the end.  So David Smith's reaction kind of surprises me.  Just wondering about the photos - who appears stronger and who weaker, the actors or the real people?

David (#1): You can tell all that from photographs?

I saw the film and thought it was extremely well done.  I did not find it ''self indulgent'' at all, which is perhaps one reason (among others) why Hollywood overlooked it.  It is reflective, and compels the  viewer to empathize with the real fear that these men must have faced.  It also beautifully conveys  their deep sense of fidelity to God and to their fellow humans which eventually results in the communal, as well as individual, discernment that they should stay in the face of certain death.  If that's plastic, give me plastic.

What a fantasic film. I saw it last night. It's the perfect movie to watch during the lenten season. I am disappointed in myself for not trying any spriutual reading during lent, but this movie certainly made up for it!

The latest from america

Against the backdrop of deep differences with the Trump administration over migration and foreign aid as well as concerns for Ukraine and for Gaza, the Vatican secretary of state welcomed U.S. Vice President JD Vance to the Vatican.
Vance, who converted to Catholicism in 2019, attended the liturgy with his wife, Usha, a practicing Hindu, and his three children after meeting with Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni earlier in the day.
My Catholic identity and my wife’s Protestant identity continue to endure, and our faith has developed together in greater harmony, knowing that our love for each other was ultimately grounded in our love for God.
