A Legacy of Peace

Most Rev. Thomas J. Gumbleton, the retired auxiliary bishop of Detroit and founding bishop president of Pax Christi USA, speaks about the life and legacy of Nelson Mandela, who died on Dec. 5. In this interview, Bishop Gumbleton suggests that a truth and reconciliation commission, like the one championed by Mandela in South Africa, could be a source of healing and reconciliation as the church seeks to address the ongoing sexual abuse crisis.
