To mark the 25th Anniversary of the killing of six Jesuits (and their housekeeper and her daughter) in El Salvador, Santa Clara Magazine has devoted a substantial portion of its Fall issue to remembering and commemorating the awful events of that night and the circumstances -- the Salvadoran Civil War -- surrounding them.
The issue features essays by novelist and Santa Clara professor Ron Hansen, as well as from Lucía Cerna, who was with the Jesuit community on the night of the massacre. For a generation that might not be aware of what exactly happened and the politico-theological tensions giving rise to the murders, this issue is a good place to begin learning more.
