Today we are celebrating 114 years of America’s media ministry. Since our founding more than a century ago, our work has evolved beyond our original magazine to include podcasts, newsletters, videos, social media content and pilgrimages that meet today’s Catholics where they are.

Our multi-platform media ministry ensures that the widest group possible can benefit from journalism that tells the stories of faith in action and enables us to have much-needed conversations about what we believe—even when those conversations are difficult—with a spirit of collaboration, respect and love.

As I wrote in this month’s issue of America magazine,

What is necessary for us to begin to find our way out of polarization is a deliberate practice of cultivating and valuing communion, especially in the midst of disagreement. Rather than demonstrating how another Catholic has betrayed or undermined the faith, we ought first to look for evidence, even in what we disagree with, of the faith we hold in common, and celebrate that evidence when we find it.

This can only be accomplished with your support. Your tax-deductible contribution makes it possible for us to continue to spread the Good News. And today, your impact can be doubled through the support of generous benefactors who have agreed to match all gifts up to $10,000.

Many thanks for your consideration, support and—of course—your prayers.

In Christ’s peace,

Sam Sawyer, S.J.
Editor in Chief
