Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America pushed back against a statement by Donald Trump, saying instead that “Life is a matter of human rights, not states’ rights.”
In a March 27 statement to OSV News, Archbishop Cordileone, who previously barred Pelosi from receiving the Eucharist in his archdiocese, said, “We know from science that life begins at conception.”
The decision “to provide an unanswered activist’s case that abortion is a tool of justice for the marginalized,” Bishop Kevin Rhoades wrote, “is a grave mistake in judgment that creates scandal.”
Former Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi cited the Gospel of Matthew as the motivation for her focus on social justice issues and said that U.S. bishops have focused too narrowly on abortion at the expense of other societal challenges.
If there is one thing that pro-life and pro-choice advocates can agree upon, it’s that the cost of having a baby is significant and often a deterrent for mothers carrying their child to term.
