President Daniel Ortega of Nicaragua suspended diplomatic ties with the Vatican in what appears to be retaliation for Pope Francis’ likening his regime to “a communist dictatorship in 1917, or a Hitlerian one in 1935.”
Pope Francis told the Latin American church leaders, “Anyone who lessens the impact of this history or minimizes the current danger dishonors those who have suffered so much and deceives those they claim to serve.”
President Biden's immigration policy and asylum rules are morally deficient, as vulnerable migrants are dying on their way to the United States from their home countries.
Nicaragua’s government has proposed suspending relations with the Vatican days after Pope Francis reportedly compared President Daniel Ortega’s administration to a communist or Nazi dictatorship amid a crackdown on the Catholic Church.
