Several Catholic school districts throughout the United States are grappling with changes around gender identity, and in some systems, students and staff are now subject to new policies about gender.

The Indiana Supreme Court ruled that a Catholic high school was protected from being sued by a teacher who was fired for being in a same-sex marriage.

Pope Francis has met with a fourth group of transgender people who found shelter at a Rome church, the Vatican newspaper reported Thursday. L’Osservatore Romano said the encounter took place Wednesday on the sidelines of Francis’ weekly general audience.

Clarence Thomas wants the Supreme Court to revisit same-sex marriage. But the majority opinion in Dobbs, and the comments of the other justices, suggest that he is alone.

“The general disposition of the church is one of hospitality, openness and welcome,” writes Archbishop John Wester. “Refusing to baptize children of same-sex couples is not in keeping with this outreach and I find it quite troubling.”
