Father Stanley Rother is the first U.S. born priest to be named 'blessed'

Sister Marita Rother really didn't get to know her brother, Father Stanley Rother, as a priest until she visited him in Guatemala in the 1970s.

On Sept. 23, Fr. Stanley Francis Rother will become the first U.S.-born priest to be beatified.

Before Father Rother died for his people, he had farmed with them, listened to them and spoken of God to them.

The Archdiocese of Oklahoma City has opened a website detailing the life, as well as steps toward sainthood, of Father Stanley Rother.
