John Levko, S.J., of the University of Scranton, studied at the U.S. Military Academy, Lehigh University, Fordham University, Gregorian University and the Pontifical Oriental Institute, resulting in seven degrees, including two doctorates. He met Walter Ciszek, S.J., in 1964 and began a friendship that lasted until Father Ciszek’s death 20 years later. Father Levko served as the first postulator for Father Ciszek’s cause for canonization.
