One of the great things about blogging is being able to point people to fun, inspiring and serious pieces elsewhere on the web.  Sadly, this directly contradicts what I just learned at the LA Religious Ed Congress just a few days ago, during an informative web seminar run by MyCatholicVoice.com.  They darkly warned us not to link to other sites too frequently since it sends traffic away from our site.  Good advice, but I’m going to abstain from that sage warning today, in the spirit of Lent.  So herewith three pieces (by--full disclosure--three friends) which are fun, inspiring and serious.

Fun: Dave Gibson on Vatican fashions at that most fashion-conscious of sites, the Wall Street Journal, the design wing of Dow Jones.  Priest-a-porter.  (Sorry this blog can’t do accents.  We can barely do pictures.)  Fabulous.

Inspiring: Bill McGarvey, taking a break from Bustedhalo.com, and slumming with NPR in a great piece on his Lenten abstinence, or lack thereof, and struggles with, as he wrestles with giving up giving up.

Serious: Dan Gilgoff, of US News & World Report, interviews George W. Bush’s Catholic outreach director about why Republican refusal to oppose Kathleen Sebelius as HHS Secretary--and growing Democratic savvy about how to defend her--illustrates a growing GOP Catholic problem.

Happy, er, prayerful, er, sober reading!
