Catherine Kirwan-Avila, A.C.I., is a campus minister at the Catholic Student Center at Washington University in St. Louis and is part of the formation community of the Handmaids of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in St. Louis, Mo. The Handmaids are an international congregation of eucharistic, Ignatian women dedicated to the mission of reparation, education in the service of the Gospel and spiritual accompaniment. Originally from Massachusetts, Sr. Catherine graduated from the College of the Holy Cross, Boston College and Comillas Pontifical University in Madrid with degrees in history, social work and Ignatian spirituality.
