In 2009, Benedict placed his pallium over the case that holds the body of Celestine V, the last pope who voluntarily resigned.  
 
Benedict's pallium will be placed upon the saint's body on May 5th during a celebration of the 700th anniversary of his canonization.
 
Clearly Benedict is making sure the broader meaning of his action is understood.

That's very interesting and in view of what's happened, significant. Paul VI rested his stole on the shoulder of Albino Lucciani, who became John Paul I. I guess Popes like Jesus speak in "signs and symbols," sometimes.
