The Vatican has released the complete letter by Pope Emeritus Benedict XVI about Pope Francis after facing criticism for manipulating a photograph of it.

The archbishop of Guam, Anthony Sablan Apuron O.F.M. Cap., is found guilty of some of the accusations against him, including the sexual abuse of minors.

Francis has been first and foremost “a missionary pope,” who is determined to transform the church into “a missionary church.”

Benedict affirmed that “there is an internal continuity between the two pontificates.”

Cardinal Gracias, one of the pope’s top advisers, spoke about Francis on the eve of the fifth anniversary of his election.

Speaking to the Sant'Egidio community, Pope Francis warned: "The atmosphere of fear can infect also those Christians who hide the gift they have received, like the slave in the parable: they do not invest it in the future, they do not share it with others, they preserve it for themselves."

The Memorial will celebrated on the Monday after Pentecost in churches throughout the world.

Today’s letter reflects a somewhat different style and spirit than Benedict XVI’s “Dominus Iesus.”
